Bringing vital health checks to people in Cranborne

The Cranborne Practice Lake Road Surgery recently hosted the LiveWell Dorset mobile unit for a successful four-hour community health event, providing free blood pressure checks and lifestyle coaching to their patients.

The event saw a steady stream of attendees, many of whom were surprised at their blood pressure readings. High blood pressure (hypertension) is often referred to as a "silent killer" because it rarely shows symptoms but significantly increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney disease.

Jayne Walton, Digital Care Coordinator for Crane Valley Primary Care Network, said,

“It was heartening to see so many patients taking a proactive step toward wellness. Identifying a high reading early is the first step toward protecting your heart and overall wellbeing. For those whose readings were raised, our team was able to book follow-up appointments with their GP immediately.”

In addition to the physical checks, the LiveWell Dorset team offered bespoke advice on smoking cessation, weight management, and physical activity.
