Local GP surgeries bring free health and wellbeing event back to Poole

Local people in Canford Heath in Poole are invited to a free health and wellbeing drop-in event this weekend.

The event will take place on Saturday 25 April, 10:30am to 12:30pm, at Canford Heath Community Centre, Mitchell Road, Poole, BH17 8UE.

It follows a successful event last year, where more than 100 local people came along for advice, support and free health checks.

The drop-in session will offer a range of support to help people stay well, including:

  • Free blood pressure checks and an opportunity to book into cholesterol testing

  • Advice on healthy lifestyle choices

  • Information on bowel and breast cancer screening

  • Diabetes prevention support

  • Help to enrol people onto the NHS App, use the NHS websites and online consultations

People can also speak to a range of local services, including:

  • MSK Practitioner (muscle and joint support)

  • Diabetes Prevention

  • LiveWell Dorset

  • BCP Lifeline

Clare Dodd, Lead Care Coordinator at local GP surgeries in Poole, said:

“We had a great response to our last event. People told us how helpful it was to have everything in one place. Many came for a blood pressure check without needing to book.

"This time, we’ll again have pharmacists and other healthcare professionals available to explain results and offer advice, so people can better understand their health.”

The event is organised by Poole North Primary Care Network, which is a group of local GP practices working together to support patient care.

This next event will help to reach more people in the local community.

Everyone is welcome to drop in. No appointment is needed. Free refreshments will be available, and visitors can also take part in a free raffle on the day.
