A simple idea making a big difference in Weymouth and Portland

Weymouth and Portland Primary Care Network are continuing their Healthcare Heroes project, a simple monthly message designed to help people find the right support.

Healthcare Heroes shares short, trusted tips by email each month. The messages are easy to read and easy to pass on to friends, family and neighbours.

Weymouth and Portland Primary Care Network, which is a group of local GP surgeries working together, send out a monthly message that people can share to help someone find the right support.

This month focuses on something many people struggle with - sleep.

Trouble sleeping is one of the most common things people deal with. It affects mood, energy, and how people get through the day.

This month includes practical ideas such as:

• Having your last caffeine earlier in the day
• Getting some daylight in the morning, even for a few minutes

Alongside trusted NHS support if sleep has been difficult for a while.

The aim is to help people feel more confident about looking after their health and supporting others.

If someone’s mind races at night, they are not doing sleep “wrong”. That is very common.

Anyone can sign up to read the article, you do not need to live in Weymouth and Portland.

People can also get involved by telling friends, sharing the messages online, or helping spread the word in schools, workplaces, or local communities.

If this helps, please pass it on to someone who might be struggling with sleep.
